Into the Dark at The School of Light gives participants the opportunity to rediscover the craft and magic of processing and printing from film, as well as a deep exploration into the art and principles of shooting in black and white.

Through a dynamic series of real-world assignments, group critiques and a study of the 20th century’s greatest exponents of the art, this 6-week course will introduce you to the expressive possibilities of film.

This class will introduce students to the fundamentals of successful black and white photographs and allow them to execute their own work from film negative to fine art print. Instruction on film processing and printing will take place in our state of the art darkroom at The School of Light.

Into the Dark students need to bring their own non-digital film camera and film.
